Purpose of the job:

To provide HR support to the Chief Executive Officer, Senior Managers and the Board of Trustees.
To be a member of the Senior Management Team.
To ensure the organisation remains compliant with employment, sponsorship, immigration and workforce legislation whilst supporting the achievement of organisational objectives.

Tasks: The tasks outlined are not an exhaustive list and will vary within the boundaries of the purpose of the job in order to meet the changing needs of the service.

Manage complex employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement and redundancy.
Continuously monitor and review HR policies and processes and implement changes where necessary.
Provide advice on and be involved in recruitment and selection.
Keeping of secure HR records.
To take responsibility as Data Protection Officer and ensure confidentiality of information, including Data Protection and GDPR requirements are adhered to throughout the organisation.
As part of the Leadership team, participate in the implementation of specific projects, procedures and guidelines as requested by the CEO.
To manage members of the HR and Administrative Team including regular supervisions and appraisals.
To oversee and monitor the use of Bright HR and promote full functionality.
To oversee the training of the Reception/Administration/HR Team in conjunction with the online training system. Ensuring they also attend face to face training where necessary.
To oversee compliance for document retention and deletion.
To oversee the memo function for all departments on BrightHR in conjunction with the HR and Administration Officer.
To oversee the onboarding, change of documentation and offboarding of all Deafway employees.
To oversee the sickness monitoring and welfare interviews for all Deafway employees in conjunction with the HR Officer.
To oversee the DBS and Right to Work documentation ensuring that the safer recruitment process is adhered to supported by the HR Officer and HR and Administration Officer.
To act as the lead for UKVI Sponsor Licence compliance, ensuring all sponsorship duties are fulfilled in accordance with Home Office requirements.
To maintain accurate sponsorship records and oversee all reporting duties through the Sponsor Management System (SMS).
To act as the organisation's Level 1 User and ensure all sponsored worker activity is managed in accordance with UKVI guidance.
To advise managers on sponsorship, right to work requirements and immigration compliance matters.
To monitor changes in immigration and employment legislation and implement any required organisational changes.
To lead on HR-related Health & Safety responsibilities, working alongside managers to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
To support the review and implementation of Health & Safety policies, Fire Procedures and safe working practices across the organisation.
To promote a positive image of Deafway at all times.
To undertake such personal training and development relevant to the role and as is required under relevant legislation, regulatory bodies and/or by the Chief Executive and/or Trustees of Deafway.
To undertake any other tasks as reasonably required that relate to the purpose of the job as requested by the CEO.

Person specification:

Essential:

CIPD Level 5 qualification in Human Resource Management or equivalent demonstrable HR management experience.
Significant experience in a generalist HR management role.
Experience managing complex employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance procedures.
Experience developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
Experience managing and developing staff.
Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
Experience as a Level 1 User within a Home Office Sponsor Licence organisation.
Experience managing Skilled Worker sponsorship processes and UKVI compliance requirements.
Knowledge of Right to Work legislation and safer recruitment practices
Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
Strong IT skills, including HRIS and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
Experience of working within the care, charity or not-for-profit sector.
Knowledge of BrightHR.
Experience acting as Data Protection Lead or GDPR compliance lead.
British Sign Language skills.
